I’m Danielle Desir Corbett
A multi-passionate author, podcaster, and podcast marketing coach.
Having traveled to 27 countries and 4 continents with a full-time job, I am passionate about empowering financially savvy travelers to make informed financial decisions – travel more, pay off debt, and build wealth. I focus on simple, practical, and actionable strategies.
My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, a master’s in Health Care Administration, and a certificate in Project Management.
In addition to being a homeowner at the age of 27 and paying off over $40,000 of my mortgage in less than 5 years, I paid off $63,000 of student loan debt in 4 years. When I’m not searching for cheap flights, running, spinning, or visiting local breweries, you can find me writing about affordable travel and personal finance topics on my award-winning blog, The Thought Card.
I started The Thought Card in 2015 to share my thoughts with the world. What started as a lifestyle and travel blog quickly morphed into an affordable luxury travel and personal finance blog after combining my passions for travel and money.
I have written for various travel, blogging, podcasting, and personal finance publications. My work has appeared in GoBankingRates, Podcast Business Journal, Guide To Iceland, The Plutus Foundation, and more.
In 2018, I expanded my brand to include a podcast. The Thought Card Podcast shares inspiring stories, tips, and advice from money nerds and globetrotters who want to use their hard-earned money to creatively travel the world, earn more, pay off debt, and build wealth. As a top-rated podcast, The Thought Card was featured as one of the top travel podcasts by The Nomadic Matt. Recently I won the 2022 Creator Economy Awards presented by Podia.
In 2018, I founded WOC Podcasters (Women of Color), a community with over 300 members. This is the first organization of its kind dedicated to amplifying the voices of Women of Color podcasters and audio creators from around the world. WOC Podcasters features a blog, job board, directories for service providers, and a supportive podcasting community.
In 2019 I co-founded a virtual podcast summit called Podthon. Born out of the need for more representation at podcasting conferences across the country, Podthon features diverse speakers worldwide. I have spoken at many podcasting conferences, including Podcast Movement, She Podcasts Live, DC PodFest, and Podfest Global Summit. I have also been a featured guest on over 100 podcasts.
In 2019, I wrote my first book, Iceland: Nature, Nurture & Adventure, an Iceland travel guide sharing how to plan an affordable, adventurous, and culturally enriching trip to the Land of Fire and Ice. In 2020, I published two additional books Affording Travel: Saving Strategies For Financially Savvy Travelers and Traveling With A Full-Time Job.
Most recently, in 2022, I launched Grants For Creators, a newsletter curating the most relevant grants for US creatives — writers, journalists, podcasters, filmmakers, photographers, videographers, artists, and more.
While I have accomplished so much in the last 7+ years, I’m excited for what the future holds. I look forward to traveling, writing more books, and serving my clients and community.
