Speaking At WITS Week: Weighing in On The Future of Audio in Travel
April has been another incredible month for me as a speaker. Not only did I get to speak at Temple University all about how to pitch to be a guest on podcasts, but on Monday, April 19th, I shared the stage with representatives from The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel, Helsinki Marketing Ltd., and Pandora at WITS Week Workshop: The Future of Audio! Watch the replay, where we talked about how content creators and marketers can incorporate audio and sounds into their travel stories.
Is There Space For Audio In the Travel Industry?
Yes, absolutely! As a travel podcaster, I’ve been recording podcast episodes LIVE while traveling for years.
Check out some of my episodes:
- Climbing the Great Wall of China
- How Our Travels Have Changed Since the Pandemic
- Walt Disney vs. Universal, and more!
Last week, my husband and I recorded a live podcast while visiting Bad Martha’s Brewery in Cape Cod, Massachusetts!
I believe podcasting is just getting started, and there’s a huge opportunity to use audio as a marketing channel.
My podcast has reached over 56,000 downloads over the last two years. Listeners tune in from all over the world, but my top five countries include the United States, India, Canada, U.K., and Australia. By the way, I’ve never been to India or Australia! As I work with more travel brands and destinations on podcasting campaigns this summer, I cannot wait to share my findings and insights on this blog.
More specifically, at this workshop, I shared how WOC Podcasters, the podcasting community for women of color I founded in 2018, got started, why travel brands should consider investing in an audio marketing strategy, and the hurdles I’ve overcome developing a travel podcast.
"With podcasts, your listeners are with you for 30 minutes, 40 minutes. You build an intimate connection with the podcast host that's unbreakable." – Danielle Desir, founder of WOC Podcasters @thethoughtcard @WITSummit #WITSOnline
